Behind the Business

12th May 2021

This week we are hearing from Kimberly Engwicht - K-Rae Designs

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Sure! My name is Kimberly and I am a digital illustrator based in Meanjin, Brisbane. I am a proud Bundjalung and South Sea Islander woman. I'm a mother of 2 gorgeous children - one 5 year old daughter and a 2 year old son. They are the main reason I do what I do.

I grew up on Larrakia land in the Northern Territory and although I love the hustle and bustle of city life, I do miss the slower pace that Darwin offers.

Can you tell us about your business?

K-Rae Designs is derived from my name - K being from Kimberly and Rae being my middle name.

My business is a mixture of all thing stationery, digital art and apparel. I started in early 2017 where I brought out my first range of greeting cards and prints. Since then I've released notepads, stickers, custom portraits and my Check Yo'Self creative diary for grown ups

Recently I've brought out a range of tees which I'm super proud of. I love seeing people in my tees, makes my lil creative heart happy.

Industry do you operate in and how long for?

I'm in the creative space. So not only do I have my own online store filled with all the papery goodness - I create artwork that's bold, bright and makes people smile. Well, that's what I hope

I've been in this industry for 4 years now.

Is there any other info or encouragement you would like to share with other Indigenous Women?

Yes - I just want my fellow sisters to know that they are worthy, that they are enough and that they are loved. No matter what anyone has ever told then. They are all these things and more!

Also I want them to know that they can do anything that they put their minds to. The world needs you and your talents

Would love to connect!
